2. Getting your pictures right |
|
| |
Having drawn people to your picture, the next stage is to ensure they are not left disappointed. Image is everything in the modelling world and by using the word ‘image’, we mean your pictures. This is what the agent, agency or indeed other party will use [along with your profile] to assess whether you’d be suitable for the work they have in mind so it is crucial you get it right – first time! |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Our tips in this area are as follows: |
|
| |
| |
1. Get good quality pictures taken. They needn’t look too professional but ideally should be of a good quality to be properly assessed by people seeking to hire you. Remember, many companies simply want a ‘girl next door look’ and/or a fresh face rather than a well established model so it could be you! You may want to check out our retouching service |
| |
2. The more pictures and the bigger they are [5 x 7 or bigger] the better so if possible, make sure you use up your FREE listing that permits you to submit up to 30 pictures |
| |
3. Ensure your teaser picture [i.e. the one everyone sees] shows you fully and not partially hidden [for example] in the dark. |
| |
4. If possible, try and show some of your figure and try and make your images alluring and appealing. This is because whilst waiting for serious work offers, you’re also be able to attract a significant amount of visitors who may simply want to send you compliments in which case you earn money each time this happens |

6. Have a little patience |
|
| |
Cutebods.com like any other modelling platform does not give any guarantees regarding getting you work and/or propelling you into the big time. However, what can promise you is that we’ll do everything we possibly can to help you realise your dreams and ambitions. To this end, we recommend that you remain on the site as long as possible because you just never know who might come knocking and in many cases, all it takes is that one special person to propel you into the big time. Remember, Naomi Campbell got discovered by chance in Convent Garden [London] and look where she is now so patience truly is a virtue and do not despair if your dream contact hasn’t come knocking yet!

7. Having the right attitude and approach |
|
| |
Of the millions of [in most cases] young, bright, attractive people who want to get into modeling, only a small percentage find any success at it. The reason behind this is simply because they do not possess all of the following key elements of a successful model – which are also crucial when it comes to long term success |
|
| |
|
|
| |
| |
1. Lots of Determination. It is well documented within modelling circles that scores of young models fail to reach their potential purely because they do not possess an adequate amount drive and desire to overcome the inevitable slumps and setbacks they encounter. They simply quit when what is needed is an over abundance of determination! |
| |
2. Consistent Professional Attitude. Modelling like most other professions [part time and full time] is a business, pure and simple. It can be great fun, but professional photographers, art directors, casting directors, and videographers are in the business of creating images for a profit. Their time is money, and so is yours. So when they contact you via the site [whether via a company email address or a private one] make sure you try and be polite and courteous to all contacts as you never know who really is contacting you. In other words, a private email address [e.g. yahoo or hotmail] could really be a professional trying to assess your attitude, protocol and manners off guard! |
| |
3. Be serious at all times. When offered any kind of work, ensure you treat these professionals as you would expect to be treated when it comes to time. Try not to make the mistake of wasting their time by not being punctual or ready to work at the scheduled start time. Even the most desired model in the world will eventually run out of work if she persistently wastes people’s time by being late, (or not showing at all), or by not being prepared to work. If people like working with you, chances are they’ll not only request you time after time, but also recommend you and as we all know, the modeling fraternity is a very close knit one. |
| |
4. Display a Good Work Ethic - Always. Any experienced model will tell you that there will rarely ever be a constant stream of work at all times. Consequently, when work opportunities do arise, be prepared to do your best and make the most of them. |
| |
5. Draw on your [and others] Imagination. Many professionals are looking for that unique and/or special look so when submitting pictures to Cutebods.com, try and use your thoughts to create something that makes you special. If you’re on this site purely for modeling work purposes, simply submitting poor quality pictures of you standing in your room or in a bar [for example] is unlikely to give power to your cause! So try and be creative and in doing so, fashion a demand for your services. Also, feel free to collaborate with your photographer to come up with something really special that just screams who you are. |
| |
6. Utilize Networking Skills. When you do acquire work, ensure you use the opportunity to your advantage by relentlessly [but not too pushily] making endeavours to reach potential clients and generate more work and more clients from referrals and other network techniques. Of the clients you work with, ask them for referrals to other opportunities for you. And if a client was referred to you, always let them know who referred them. The general networking rule of thumb is that for every content and happy client you have they, in turn, will tell 2-5 others about you, but for every dissatisfied client, 10 potential new clients will hear the bad news. More importantly, on no account should you burn your bridges with clients. You may not want to work with them any more, and that is fine, but never be rude or unprofessional as such behaviour is only likely to be to your detriment. In short, work generates work in this business as word of mouth is undisputedly the best marketing tool there is and it’s free! |
| |
7. Discipline. Always be equipped and ready for work. Make sure you keep your valuable assets, (smile, face, figure, or what ever else you model), in good shape at all times because [again] you never know who will come knocking and when. Have your portfolio to hand when you get what is known as a go-see, (interview or test shoot), and have your promotional materials, (headshots, resumes, etc.), ready for any potential interview or marketing opportunity. This chance may not come around again. Have the discipline to be proactive and not a dreamer as Cutebods.com can only get the people knocking on your door. The rest is in your hands! |
| |
8. Persistence. Contrary to popular belief, successful models are made, not born. They work at all aspects of what they do and they do not stop because of a few setbacks [which all models get from time to time]. They are determined to accomplish a goal and they are not easily stopped by petty excuses or fears of the unknown. |
| |
9. Looks. Looks are not everything in the modeling world and is [as a result] usually not the reason many potential models fail. A successful model does have good looks [which are subjective – in the eyes of the beholder] but more importantly, they use those looks to differentiate themselves from all the other models out there. They create a look all their own and that's what makes them valuable and marketable. |
